Donald Kerr

Born in 1955 in the province of Nova Scotia which is on the east coast of Canada.

Graduated from high school and took a 2 diploma course in Radio & Television Arts at Confederation college in Thunder Bay , Ontario , Canada.

After graduating from college, was employed by CKPR / CFRD television in Thunder Bay, and was employed there for 3 1/2 years in their videotape and master control operations. In 1977 I obtained employment in Ottawa, Ontario (Canada) and have been employed at a broadcasting station there since then. Up until 1998 was working in the videotape and master control center. Most of the computer software during the later portion of that time was written by me.

Since 1998 have been involved with news editing and live newscast playout co-ordination. Have written 2 manuals on the video server and automation system that was introduced and installed in 2000 and those manuals have now been forwarded and in use at several locations in Canada as well as several places in the United States.

I hold an amateur radio certificate.

My farther was a WWII veteran and had worked for the Nova Scotia power company in his earlier years following the war, in his later years he ran a poultry warehouse.

I am mostly self-taught , and understand most all electrical wiring procedures in the context of a residential setting. There is very few things that I can't wire. I have in the past done most of my own automobile repairs including replacing a rack and pinion steering which as a DIY'er saved me a lot of money.

On a personal note, I am married and have 3 children.

Warren Goodrich

Born in 1950 in Shelbyville, Indiana which is in the Midwestern part of the United States.

I grew up in a family of 5 children living and working the family farm until I graduated from high school.

I Graduated from high school at age 17, then I accepted a position at the age of 17 with Sears Roebuck as a service technician. At age 19 over a two year period of schooling, I completed a full training program in appliance repair, and heating & Cooling design and lawn & garden equipment repair at LaGrange, Illinois. I started my own business named Goodrich Appliance and Electric in electrical construction and appliance repair at the age of 19. By the time I was 20 I had 2 full time employees. I am still active in that business after 31 years. However that business evolved as I received formal schooling over the following thirty years. My business grew to as much as 15 employees at one given time and a hundred or more have been employed with my company over that 30 year period. Most of which I personally trained and provided college opportunities and specialized schooling. That business started working on lawn mowers and appliances then evolved into residential construction style electrical contracting, then evolved into small industrial electrical contracting, then evolved into larger industrial electrical contracting, then evolved into writing books and articles such as the ones you can find in this site. All during that time I also provided instructions and schooling opportunities for my employees and on the job training. I also personally sought and obtained formal schooling in the field of electricity and Code studies. I have been tested and have successfully passed unlimited number of local jurisdictional electrical contracting tests. I also have successfully passed the following tests concerning electrical, and Code, and enforcement; BOARD OF GOVERNORS of NATIONAL CERTIFICATION PROGRAM FOR CONSTRUCTION CODE INSPECTORS of NEW YORK FOR ELECTRICAL ONE AND TWO FAMILY – ELECTRICAL GENERAL -and– ELECTRICAL PLAN REVIEW INDIANA DEPT OF FIRE AND BUILDING SERVICES IN ELECTRICAL ONE AND TWO FAMILY – ELECTRICAL GENERAL – ELECTRICAL PLAN REVIEW – BUILDING LEGAL – BUILDING ADMINISTRATION. I have passed testing over the last thirty years concerning electrical too numerous to name. I have also passed the following subjects; 1983 through 1990 Tom Henry Code prep classes, International Building Officials concerning the following subjects; BUILDING LEGAL, BUILDING ADMINISTRATION. I have maintained annual credits for 8 years in Continuing Education Units with the International Association of Electrical Inspectors Assoc. I am an accredited teacher at the following education establishments, Ivy Tech of Columbus, Indiana - Ivy Tech of Indianapolis, Indiana – University of Vincennes, Indiana – NPI Management Services of Lithonia, Michigan – The Circle Seven Training Council - Whitewater State College - Shelbyville High School - Greensburg High School - Connersville High School - Rushville High School - Blue River Technical Center . I have taught at Ford Motor Company in the Vestion Building, also.

I am a national certified building, and Electrical Inspector.  Past experience includes several years as a electrical inspector in the state of Indiana, as well as recent experience as a building and plumbing inspector. I have also written self help pass outs way too many to mention and have authored two technical books relating to the electrical industry.

On a personal note I am divorced with one daughter that I am very proud of. My daughter’s name is Dara Goodrich and she has just received her degree as a paralegal ! Now I feel that I have really accomplished something worthwhile. I feel we both deserved that diploma but I couldn’t convince the College of that. Tough ain’t it.
