How to Clean Glass Bathroom Sinks

By Karin Mangan

Glass bathroom sinks are becoming more popular as they become available in a wider variety of unique colors, designs, textures and shapes.

Glass bathroom sinks can be expensive, especially if you purchase an artisan-made sink that has been custom-designed for your bathroom. These sinks are a valuable investment and it's important to ensure they're well-cared for. Because they're made of glass, dirt or grime is easily visible and can spoil the look of your bathroom. To keep your bathroom looking great, clean glass sinks regularly.

Here are some tips for caring for your glass sink. You'll need: water, vinegar, a non-abrasive cloth, newspaper and Windex.

  1. Thoroughly dry the sink with a non-abrasive cloth daily. This will prevent water spots from forming on the surface of the sink.
  2. If spots or fingerprints are visible on the surface, use Windex or a similar glass cleaning product to clean the sink. A mixture of vinegar and water will also work. Avoid touching the sink during use when possible to minimize fingerprints.
  3. Make sure to rinse all cleaning product residue from the sink when you're finished. Wipe the sink with a non-abrasive cloth or paper towel. Newspaper can also be used to wipe the sink to create a streak-free finish.
  4. Clean the sink regularly (2-3 times a week) to keep mineral deposits or bacteria buildup from forming. Remember to clean the outside of the glass sink regularly as well.
