Once you have seen frameless shower doors in home decor magazines, you'll dream about them. Frameless shower doors look elegant and work great. Best of all, they are easy to install.
First, you need to decide the side of the shower where you want the hinges. You can use glass to glass or pivot hinges. In choosing the pivot side, ensure that, when the doors open, they don't hit any of your bathroom fixtures.
If you are unsure about the wall, use pivots in place of hinges to support the weight. Never install a glass shower door on tiles mounted on gypsum plasterboard.
Next, install the hinges on the glass and set the glass in the opening on shims - which provides a level surface. Punch holes and take out the glass door. Then drill the holes. Next, set the glass in the opening and screw in 2-inch screws. Remove the shims. Be cautious when installing the hinges as they tend to slide out. Center the hinges vertically, keeping space between the edge of the hinge and the glass edge. Ensure that the glass doesn't hit the base plate.
Set the door on the shim, but be sure that it is high enough. Mark the holes. Remove the door and drill the holes though the tile and cement door. Now, it's time to hammer in the anchors. Shave off the ones that stick out. Screw-in the screws after you've replaced the door.
Last, install the handle. Remove the shims and fasten the hinge screws to hold the glass door.
Done!
