Exterior Basement Perimeter Cistern Pump

By Warren Goodrich
Exterior Basement Perimeter Cistern Pump

Notes to consider when working with an exterior basement cistern pump.

Exterior 4" Drain Hose Installed Under Basement Floor is also connected to outside perimeter drain hose.

Do not connect inside sump pump pit, that is passing through basement floor, to any subsurface exterior perimeter drain hose located under floor or outside basement wall.

Keep inside sump pit and pump, if desired, without holes and as a separate drain system from the exterior subsurface perimeter drain to prevent flooding inside basement. This inside sump pit is only for interior accidental flooding only and not required in masonry basement design per Code.

Exterior basement walls are required to be purged [water proofed with a tar or other purging method].

In many areas, basement walls call for R10 insulation [if outside 2" Styrofoam Insulating board should work].

Top for Exterior Cistern Vertical Plastic Pipe.

Fiberglass hand hole normally found flat to sidewalks. This allows access but is installed flat to ground with a locking lid. Ask for suppliers at wholesale electrical warehouses for availability.
